Which Insurance Companies do you participate with?
The Health Center for Integrative Medicine, LLC is a privately owned entity not owned by any hospital or insurance company. Therefore, we do participate in most insurance companies in this area: Highmark and its subsidiaries, UPMC, Health America, Aetna, United, Tricare, Medicare, and UPMC for You as the only Medicaid insurer.
Are there Out-of-pocket expenses?
Copays, Co-insurances, and deductibles are still the patient’s responsibility. Please familiarize yourself with the plan you have, so that you are aware of what is and is not covered. Most acupuncture treatments are not fully covered. Vitamins, herbs, and supplements will be an out-of-pocket expense, as well as certain diagnostic testing. We promise to do our best to make sure you are aware of any out-of-pocket expenses and will be sure to do authorizations for medications and testing that you may need.

Once I am a patient, what type of communication methods does the office utilize?
We are all about patient-oriented, relationship-centered care, and so, to that end, our office utilizes electronic health records system which has a vibrant patient portal. Aside from calling the office, patients can easily message/email us, request refills, request appointments, start their own visit by entering in their symptoms, add in their own histories, and download any forms ahead of time. Also, our patients will receive text messages or emails the day before a scheduled appointment to remind them of that appointment.
What to wear for treatments and evaluations?
If you are having acupuncture done, we strongly urge you to wear loose clothing, like sweat pants/yoga pants/shorts and loose comfortable tops. For any additional integrative treatments, we provide disposable gowns for you to wear. If you have any questions please let the reception know when you first arrive so we can accommodate you.
