Bonita began her nursing career at The Washington Hospital School of Nursing. As a registered nurse, she provided direct patient care in the medical-surgical, cardiovascular and cardiac rehabilitation units at The Washington Hospital. While employed as a registered nurse, she completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (magna cum laude) from the California University of Pennsylvania in California, PA, and a Master of Science in Nursing and Nurse Practitioner Certification at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA in the Family Health specialty. Mrs. Clayton earned national board certification with the American Nurses Association as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) in 1999. She is a current member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Bonita has gained experience and knowledge as a nurse practitioner in family practice and internal medicine practice over the past 15 years. Before joining the HCIM, she worked in the retail clinic setting to assess, diagnose and treat patients with acute care needs. Bonita has a passion to help patients to be the best person they were created to be; spiritually, mentally and physically.
